On June 29, a coalition of students and student organizations represented the University of Houston-Downtown in the 2013 Houston Gay Pride Parade, the largest nighttime parade in the country. UHD was the only public 4-year University to participate in this year’s parade. “There was so much energy in the atmosphere. Everyone was celebrating gay pride, on top of celebrating the recent Supreme Court decisions,” said LaTrina Carter, former President of Safe Zone, the University’s only LGBT student organization on campus.
